THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE EVER. ive eaten here maybe 30x AYCE in the past year. never gotten sick, never had a bad item, 10/10 and you can NOT beat the price.
Came here with some friends the other night Food: Very good priced AYCE sushi restaurant. The sushi quality is decent for a AYCE, and a great variety of food. I enjoyed the BBQ squid, most of the salmon and red snapper rolls and speciality rolls, and they had pretty solid miso. Service: pretty regular service with paper based service that you fill out and they bring to you. Aesthetic: standard sit down Chinese restaurant affair.
Since our old go-to sushi spot never returned to dine-in after the pandemic, my husband and I have been looking for a replacement. A few weeks ago on a whim, we tried out East Gate on a work week night. We did AYCE to see what's up. It was good and I think we'd come back again. FOR AYCE ONLY: It's your classic AYCE situation with the paper sheet menus. A plus is that the AYCE kitchen menu had a couple of Chinese items like shumai and General Tso's Chicken. My vegetarian husband had a good amount of options on the sushi bar menu: Avocado Cucumber, Peanut Avocado, Oshinko, Mango Avocado, Sweet Potato, and Pumpkin Tempura. Good variety and quality of food at a fair AYCE price. Recommended!
A nice AYCE sushi place in the Montclair area. My table ordered the kani salad, house salad, miso soup, a bunch of apps and rolls all for $26/person. The Edison roll was my favorite and the other special rolls were huge too! It's also BYOB too which is a plus.
Have been here twice with my friend who loves sushi. The all you can eat options are really good, and you can always go with the chinese food options which are good and tasty. The sushi rolls are large and the service is pleasant. The decor is extremely basic. A bonus is they are BYO.
I enjoy an AYCE sushi place. I had heard that this place was good so my Daughter and I drove to Verona to Check out East Gate. Glad we went. We started with Miso soup which was very good and warmed us after the chilly rain outside. We ordered a variety of rolls, sashimi, sushi, and a hand roll. The rolls were inventive and delicious. I did an Eel avocado roll and a soft shell crab roll. My Daughter had a yellowtail roll which she enjoyed. She liked the quality a and taste of her sashimi. My yellowtail hand roll was excellent. As for individual sushi we both liked the pieces and that they didn't come out too warm. Mackerel and snapper were super fresh. Eel, yellowtail, and tobiko were yummy too. We went fir seconds and got a tiger roll which was good but nothing special. Tried the BBQ squid and it was ok. My Daughter then had a white tuna hand roll. We then finished with green tea and red bean ice cream. Service was good and the place was hopping. Good value I'd come here again.
If you love sushi, then you'll enjoy their "All you can eat" sushi option. Small, quiet place with friendly staff. Quick service especially when out during work lunch break.
